Tech Connect Program

The Edmonds Independents are always looking for opportunities for our athletes to stay active, have fun, learn, and socialize with friends. To that end, we are participating with Special Olympics Washington in the Tech Connect Program.

Tech Connect is a six-week program where we will teach athletes to use essential technology skills.

The Tech Connect Mission: To empower individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) by providing them with essential technology skills. By bridging the technology education gap, we aim to foster greater independence, inclusion, and opportunities for participation in today's digital world. Through our Tech Connect program, we strive to unlock the potential of every individual, ensuring that no one is left behind in the digital age.

When: Thursdays from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM, from July 18 until August 22. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to attend.

Where: Frances Anderson Center, Room 208, Edmonds

Summer & Fall Program Update

We are pleased to announce that the Edmonds Independents will be offering Bocce this summer, followed by Bowling and Flag Football in the fall. All athletes who participate MUST register here and bowling unified partners should register here (partners) so our teams can complete all Special Olympics requirements well ahead of our first practices.

Please NOTE:

  • SOWA requires that all athletes have a current Athlete Registration Form packet (ARF) that includes an Athlete Registration form, a Medical Form with a physical exam, a release form, and a communicable disease waiver. If you do not have a current ARF. All sections must be completed with the exam performed after August 2021 for the summer sports and December 2021 for the fall sports, You will need to bring a new one to our first practice or provide it via email prior to the first practice.

  • SOWA requires that all unified partners have a current Registration Form, Release Form, Communicable Disease/Covid Waiver and a Background Check. More information can be found on the SOWA website here (use the Good Deed Code (e45cri8) for the background check).

To help our current volunteer coaches provide the best support for our athletes, we are always seeking volunteers to coach, assist at practices, and provide other miscellaneous support. If you are willing or know someone who is willing to help, please contact us via email at edmondsindependents@gmail.com.

Additional Information for the Summer program:

  • Bocce – Bocce practice will start on June 12th and will be held at Meadowdale Neighborhood Park on Wednesdays at 5:30 PM

  • There will not be any SOWA competitions this summer, however we anticipate participating in local competition events with other teams.

  • Unfortunately, we will not be offering Softball this summer as originally anticipated.
